The US isn’t budging on the existing 25% tariffs on various EU food, wine, and spirits, even after Airbus — the initial source of the long-standing conflict — made a move to appease the US last month. However, the US did not follow through on threats to add tariffs to vodka, gin and beer.
This decision extends the long-running fight between the EU and US over billions of dollars in aircraft subsidies, with the EU expected to win World Trade Organization approval in autumn to hit back with its own tariffs over subsidies for Boeing.
