U.S. wine exports, 97 percent of which come from California, reached $1.53 billion in winery revenues and over 42 million cases in 2017. California wine exports have grown nearly 70 percent by value in the past 10 years.
California wineries are also on the leading edge of premiumization, which has led to overall lower sales volumes but increased pricing and profitability. California has a global marketing effort that focuses on the quality and diversity of California wine. The California wine export program includes more than 175 wineries that export to 138 countries, conducts programs in 25 countries around the world via 15 representative offices.
