According to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, the low end’s share total wine and spirits in the US has decreased by -5.6% and -4.5%, respectively, within the past 5 years. IWSR Drinks Market analysis predicts that market share volume for low-end wine will decrease from 30.6% to 26.8% and 20.7% to 18.1% for spirits by 2022.
According to Nielsen data, the $11+ segment for wine is doing the best across all price tiers. The $8-$11 segment was down about 1% in sales for the year through March 23 and 4.5% in the $4-$8 segment. Sales of premium and ultra-premium priced spirits were up by 6.7% and 9.1%, respectively. In comparison, sales of value spirits were down just over 3%, and mid-priced spirits were down nearly 1%.
