Paradise Tropical Wines, a Texas company, recently announced that it has developed more than 40 grapeless wine blends made exclusively from pressed, fermented fruit. The owner says their wines are made from fruits like kiwis and blueberries. One of the benefits they found from producing grapeless wine is that it helps eliminate headaches and hangovers because there are no tannins in the blends. Tannins are the substance that is typically associated with giving people headaches and/or hangovers in traditional wine. The company believes they have produced a product that gives all of the benefits and flavor profiles of traditional wine but without the tannins offers a new option for today’s consumers. Some critics feel that their product should not be called Vino, but the owner disagrees, saying that wine is simply the art of fermentation.
