Tequila producers are increasing production volumes to meet the rise in demand. In the past three years, tequila has acquired second place as the fastest growing spirits category, growing at a rate of 9 percent year-on-year, reported by the IWSR. According to the National Tequila Regulatory Chamber(CNIT), tequila exports are on an upward trend with record levels in 2018 for the ninth year in a row. The CNIT reported that 309.1 litres of Tequila were produced in 2018, increasing by 13.9 percent from 2017, making it the second highest volume ever recorded. Experts claim that global tequila trends are driven by the premium-plus and luxury segments.
