Many brands are adding alcohol into flavored fizzy waters, making them hard seltzer. In the past year, hard seltzer has increased by more than 200% in sales. Compared to beers, spiked seltzers tend to have fewer calories, as well as fermented sugars—making them gluten-free.
According to U.S. News, most beers tend to run about 150 calories while spiked seltzers run about 100 calories. In regards to carbohydrates, beers run about 15 to 30 grams while spiked seltzers run about 2 grams. Although spiked seltzers seem “healthier” than beers, it is important to drink in moderation disregarding the calories involved.
