The health and wellness trend has increased the demand for alcoholic teas in the US. The growing popularity of ready-to-drink alcoholic teas can be attributed to the consumer’s perception that tea is a healthy ingredient added to their alcoholic beverage. According to TTB data, about 20% of new hard tea label applications have come from craft breweries in the past two years. Craft brewers are looking to maximize production and drive volume with the tea flavor category. Cider brands are also looking to increase production of alcoholic teas. Alcoholic kombucha brands like Boochcraft, JuneShine, Flying Embers and Wild Tonic increased nearly 300% in 2018, exceeding 100,000 nine-litre cases.
