According to Nielsen Beverage Data, one of the most popular types of sparkling wine in the U.S. is something called “mid-tier Prosecco”. Mid-tier Prosecco Nielsen defines as bottles priced at $13-$14. The category may lack the flash and marketing dollars of some of its more expensive counterparts, but the segment more than makes up for it in monetary momentum. Retail sales of mid-tier Prosecco grew by over 30 percent this past year. Prosecco now accounts for 20 percent of all sparkling wine sales. Considering that hardly anyone new about Prosecco in America just a decade ago, we’d say the sector is doing well!
