On-site sales at craft spirit distilleries are expected to account for roughly 25 percent of total craft spirit sales in 2017, up from 18 percent in 2016. That figure is equal to over 1 million cases of craft spirits. The Brewers Association estimated that craft beer on-premise sales have increased to 2.3 million barrels for 2016, making up roughly 10 percent of the production volume of small and independent brewers.
The craft boom shows no signs of slowing down, with forecasts of the number of permits to reach 25,854 by the end of 2021. That number would mean that every U.S. consumer would likely live within a short driving distance from a local brewery, distillery or winery.
