2018 year-end reports have trickled in, and according to data, consumer spending on alcohol was just about 254 billion dollars. Despite declining 2.2 percent this past year, beer still accounts for the largest share of servings at 47.6 percent. Spirits shares went up to 34 percent and wine shares increased to 18 percent. Overall growth of total on-premise beverage spending was nearly double that of off-premise spending in the past year, with spending up nearly 7 percent on-premise and 3.7 percent off-premise. On-premise channels also grew slightly faster in dollar terms than off-premise channels for the year, according to the reports.
