An Ohio bill, if signed by Governor John Kasich, would allow businesses to give away free samples of beer and alcohol. Ohio law currently prohibits establishments from giving away any beer or alcohol. Ohio House Bill 444 was passed in the state Senate on Dec. 8th, and would allow certain D liquor permit-holders to provide free tasting samples of liquor, wine and beer.
Under the current Ohio law, permit-holders must charge customers for drinks, even if they don’t meet with the customer’s taste. State lawmakers hope that the new law will help spur growth in the craft beer and liquor industry and ultimately boost overall economic activity in the state.
