Alcohol continues to be one of the fastest growing consumer goods categories off-premise, up 18.6% for the week ended July 25, according to Nielsen. The growth gap between the three categories continues to widen as spirits growth was up 31% in dollars, while wine saw strong growth of 18% against the previous year. Comparatively, beer/flavored malt beverages/ciders delivered 14.7% dollar growth.
Additionally, on-premise velocity was down 28% in operational outlets compared to last year, but has increased 205% from March 2020 when shutdowns commenced.
