A recent Nielsen survey classified craft consumers into two separate categories, considered above average or “weekly” craft consumers and below average or “occasional” craft consumers. Forty five percent of all craft consumers are of the “weekly” variety and fifty five percent fall into the “occasional” category, defined as consuming several times per year. The “weekly” craft drinker is predominantly male, between the ages of 21 and 34, and makes between 75 and 99 thousand dollars annually. Roughly 47 percent of “weekly craft drinkers” reported they are drinking even more craft beer today compared to just a few years ago. Men aren’t the only ones drinking craft, Seventy percent of females responders identify as craft beer consumers, just slightly less than the 82 percent of male respondents who identify as craft beer consumers.
