Liquor stores in several states are being classified as essential, sparing them from shutdowns in major markets such as New York, New Jersey, and California. These states have issued stay-at-home orders to combat the spread of the coronavirus, leading to the closure of all non-essential retail.
Liquor stores have also remained open in Texas and Kentucky, despite their government-enforced shutdown of many retail sectors. Many other states continue to provide delivery and takeout alcohol sales, while making sure to practice social distancing. However, Pennsylvania has ordered the closure of all of its state-run Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.
