In 1940, two families from Atlanta decided to start a distribution company, named the Fulton Distribution Company. After the initial level of success, they distributed in Florida and Georgia. Eventually, they became known as United Distributors.
The United Distributors Company is a privately held company. It’s managed by the Hertz family, one of the two original founding families. Today United has become one of the largest wholesalers of alcoholic beverages in Georgia and Alabama. They are focused on growth and prosperity, with excellent sales representatives that are responsible for expanding the business.
They have set a mission to become the most successful corporation in the beverage distribution industry, and have been laser-focused on achieving that goal. The United Distributors company has been carefully devoted to excelling across all aspects of the business.

Today United Distributors is the largest alcoholic beverages distributor in Georgia. They also operate in Alabama under the United-Johnson Brothers of Alabama, LLC.

The United Distributors company found its roots in Atlanta, Georgia, as the Fulton Distributions Company, which kicked off operations in 1940. It was founded by the Hertz and Kugelman families. This company inspired the development of the Standard Distributors in Atlanta and Augusta, as well as another company based out of Florida.
In the 1950s, after a transitional period and several management changes, the company became known as United Distributors. The Hertz family that initially started the company has been at the forefront of the company, and today it’s managed by fourth generation Hertz family members.
Some time in the 1980s, the company underwent another change, but the United Distributors remained on its mission, and they managed to increase their services, with imported and domestic brands of beers and wines being the focal point. The company headquarters are now in Smyrna, and today the whole company operates out of this location. They have warehouses located throughout several cities within both Georgia and Alabama state lines.
