History & Company Facts of Tri-Cities Beverage

Mr. and Mrs. A. Jack Georgalas founded Tri-Cities Beverage Corporation in 1959. They had the idea and saved rigorously for five years before starting the company with two beer trucks and 5,000 square feet warehouse in Downtown Newport News, Virginia. They first acquired the rights to distribute National Bohemian beer, and in 1963, they obtained the rights to the Miller Brewing Company and the Colt 45 brand.

Tri-Cities Beverage entered the wine business in 1969, becoming a direct import and bringing some of the USA’s finest wines closer to Hampton Roads residents. Business continued to grow, and the Georgalas’ were able to expand their headquarters. In 1973, Tri-Cities Beverage broke ground on a new facility at 612 Industrial Park Drive, Newport News, Virginia, their permanent home base.

The business was booming, and Tri-Cities Beverage bought the Chesapeake Bay Distributing Co. in 1980, getting the rights to distribute to the South-Side Hampton Roads markets.

Today, Tri-Cities Beverage Corporation has a long and varied portfolio, including craft beer, domestic beer, ciders, imported beer, gluten-free beer, malt beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, wine, champagne, and seasonal and new products.

The company is still family-owned and operated and represents over 100 suppliers from all over the globe. They have kept the founding values of excellent customer service, cultivating human relations, and providing their Hampton Roads clients with impressive products.
