This has shown as the winning combination, as they currently hold about 50% of the market for bars and restaurants in Boston and the surrounding areas.

Horizon Beverage currently operates from two main warehouses in Massachusetts – one in Norton and one in Ludlow. They also have offices in Rhode Island, and service areas in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

Horizon Beverage Wholesale Distributing Company History & Contact Info

The story of Horizon Beverage began in the early 1900s when a certain Morris Simms came to the USA from Russia. He was a garbage collector who sold homemade alcohol on the side. Morris noticed that he had better opportunities selling alcohol and continued along that path. Since the prohibition started, Morris made arrangements with Canadian alcohol manufacturers to bootleg their whisky in South Massachusetts.

Close after the repealing of the Prohibition Act, only 10 days after exactly, Morris Sims registered the Brockton Wholesale Beverage Company, Inc. The company was run by Morris and his family, and they established a company policy of supporting the local communities where they sold their products.

The same policy and values are still kept today, along with honor and integrity. After the end of WWII, the company expanded and was later able to expand the services as a statewide operation.

They continued to hire family members, and by the 1960s, the third generation of the family came to work for the company. They were also focused on purchasing smaller wholesalers from other parts of the state, and thus establish a solid presence. During the 1980s, they built a headquarters building in Avon, and a large warehouse in Ludlow that is still in operation today.

The company unified all its divisions under one name and officially became Horizon Beverage in 1998, establishing itself as a regional beverage and alcohol wholesale distribution company.

Horizon Beverage is now run by the fourth generation of descendants of Morris Sims. They moved the headquarters to Norton, MA in 2012, building a state-of-the-art facility with office spaces and warehouse space, and now employ over 760 people in all their facilities. 

The Horizon Company has succeeded in becoming a regional distributor of wine, spirits, and beer for the New England area. They have a strong policy and excellent company culture, and will surely continue to grow in the future.
