The History & Company Facts of Grapevine Distributors

Grapevine Distributors was founded in 1991 by Betty Cohen, and she made it her mission to bring family-made wines from around the world to the families of the Carolinas. She is still serving as the company CEO, implementing her vision.

Grapevine Distributors started as a small family operation, with Betty driving across the state, selling and delivering wine. The company rose to become the first state-wide wine distributor in North Carolina. They were the first to implement deliveries with an air-conditioned box truck and store their products in a fully air-conditioned warehouse. Grapevine slowly entered the South Carolina market, becoming the most extensive full-service wine distributor across the Carolinas.

Grapevine Distributors has 30 employees across their distribution network ranging from warehouse and office staff, drivers, and sales and management teams. The company makes an effort to send sales teams to travel the wine world, sourcing and tasting wines right at the source before they decide to add them to the Grapevine portfolio.

The Grapevine portfolio now includes products from over 200 family wineries from all over the world, with plenty of products to provide an excellent selection to the residents of both Carolinas. Grapevine Distributors’ wines come from Italy, Australia, Argentina, Chile, France, Germany, Czech Republic, India, Japan, Hungary, Uruguay, Lithuania, Portugal, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa, United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Africa, and the United States.

The company has an exciting way of selecting the wineries they will represent and add to the Grapevine portfolio. They are looking for wineries with exciting stories behind their brands, and all the wineries in the Grapevine portfolio have exciting stories. Also, someone from Grapevine will visit the winery before they decide to take on their products, so it is a pretty selective process, ensuring only the best will make the cut.
