As the result of an escalating trade battle, The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) proposed a new 100% trade tariff on imported wine from all EU countries.
If put into effect, the tariffs would severely impact a number of industry businesses, including winemakers, importers, distributors, as well as retailers. Though, President Trump characterized the move as a “minor dispute” indicating that the two sides will “probably be able to work it out.”
The USTR is accepting public comment on the tariffs through January 13.
