The US Court of Appeals for the Eight Circuit recently ruled a Missouri law that banned bars and restaurants from advertising specific alcohol specials violates their right to free speech.
The Missouri law in question allowed retailers to run generic advertisements for discounted alcohol sales, but prevented them from advertising the specific price of alcoholic beverages outside of their own business.
The three judges on the appeals panel determined the law did not achieve its goal of decreasing overconsumption or underage drinking.
