Online sales have offered a new and improved way for consumers to purchase the products they love. Alcohol is no exception. In 2017, U.S. online alcohol sales reached $1.7 billion, according to Rabobank reporting. This number is expected to have exponential increase as government and state regulations continue to modernize.
IRI data indicates that off-premise alcohol sales had a five-year CAGR of 1.44 percent. Over the same period, online alcohol sales have nearly quadrupled. What initially started as a difficult platform with limited prospects, strictly for the wine category, and across only a handful of states has now become a national opportunity for all alcohol brands. The next obstacle is determining which e-commerce company suits a brand best.
