“…the state’s consumers end up with a half measure that deprives them of thousands of wines, discriminates against an entire category of wines, promotes a black market in those wines not allowed into the state and is likely unconstitutional”, explains Representative Deborah Hudson
The National Association of Wine Retailers is concerned that a direct wine shipping bill proposed by Representative Hudson will minimize consumer access to wine. The bill, HB 134, should be changed to make wines currently unavailable to Delawareans available according to those opposed.
Without these amendments, the people of Delaware cannot collect hard-to-find wines and other domestic wines from out of state retailers and wineries. This would have the greatest effect on wine lovers and Kosher wines typically produced out-of-state.
