Last week, Nielsen released a report surrounding the impact on-premise is facing due to COVID-19. The information, data, and measurement firm surveyed consumers from New York, California, Illinois, and Florida.
All four states experienced a decline in sales, with some experiencing greater drops than others. In New York, sales fell 21% and 23% for the last two weeks.
Similarly, Illinois sales per outlet dropped by an average of 23%. On the other hand, Florida has experienced less of an impact on sales compared to other states with 14% of consumers stating they are choosing to visit the on-premise more than normal.
Looking at urban areas in each of these states, Nielsen found that all urban areas saw declines, but areas with the largest concentration of consumers have seen the greatest impact to business.
