In February, 9 liter spirits case sales grew by 1.7 percent in control states compared to February 2017. Spirits volume grew 2.7 percent, up from January’s 2.5 percent growth. Many states had a strong month, exceeding their 12 month trends, including: Alabama, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wyoming. The Price/Mix for February was 2.4 percent, up slightly from January. February’s Control State spirits shelf dollars grew by 4.1 percent continuing their upward trend. The fastest growing category in February remained Irish Whiskey, staying in the lead for almost a full year now.
