The canned wine category has taken off in recent years, and has blown up similarly to craft beer. Nielson reported that in 2018 canned wine sales were up a whopping 69 percent and the volumes were up 47 percent. Cans give wine the opportunity to enter brand new markets, which brings in a variety of new wine consumers to the market. Attendees of music festivals, beach goers, hikers, and more would rather grab a can of wine than a corkscrew and glass bottle because of its simplicity and ease. The big question is: does wine taste different in a can? Blind canned wine tastings will have to come into place to answer that.
