There has been much back and forth over whether alcohol consumption has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Early on, the numbers looked as though that might be the case, however, an increasing number of reports indicate that perspective isn’t exactly accurate. For instance, BW166 has crunched some of the numbers and determined that the increased growth of beverage alcohol consumption “translated to an incremental half bottle of wine and half bottle of spirits” per legal drinking age adult, which is likely due to pantry loading behaviors.
