Last month, the Beer Institute reported that beer imports for August had their strongest showing of the year, up a staggering 19.4% in the month. That is “by far the largest percentage increase in import volume of any month so far in 2017” said economist Michael Uhrich. With August’s strong numbers that puts year-to-date imports up by almost 4 percent.
Mexican beer imports were also up dramatically, increasing by more than 30 percent and putting year-to-date imports up 5.7 percent. Dutch beer imports made small but steady gains of 1.6 percent. Belgian and German beer imports were also up for both the month and year-to-date.
