Off-premise sales have accelerated in the last week, as over 30 states have moved to shut down bars and restaurants to combat the spread of COVID-19. Alcohol e-commerce platform Drizly has seen customers spending 30% more on average, according to Drizly’s head of consumer insights, Liz Paquette.
Nielsen also shared some numbers from the week ended March 7, noting that total off-premise sales of wine increased 1.7% compared to the prior year, while off-premise spirits sales increased by 5%.
